Updated Aug. 29: CNN has released two clips from Dana Bash‘s exclusive interview with Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. In the first clip, Harris responds to Bash’s question about how voters should consider some of the apparent changes in her policy positions, emphasizing that her “values have not changed.”

Original story continues below:
Back in June, CNN became the first network to host a presidential debate during the 2024 election cycle. Now, it’s the first outlet to score an exclusive 2:1 interview with Democratic running mates Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.
The announcement ends weeks of speculation about which network would secure the first interview with the combined Harris/Walz ticket. The candidates will speak with Dana Bashin Georgia and the conversation will air in full Aug. 29 at 9 p.m. ET as a primetime special entitled The First Interview: Harris & Walz A CNN Exclusive.
Viewers can watch the interview live across CNN’s linear and digital platforms. It will also be available for on demand viewing starting Aug. 30.
Harris is sitting for CNN while also preparing for her upcoming ABC News debate with former President Donald Trump, set for Sept. 10 in Philadelphia. Walz also has a debate on the horizon; he’ll be matched with Trump’s running mate J.D. Vance at a CBS News-hosted event in New York City on Oct. 1.
CNN’s June 27 debate between President Joe Biden and Trump proved enormously consequential, as Biden’s heavily-criticized performance ultimately contributed to his decision to step down from seeking re-election on July 21. Harris’ interview with Bash will likewise be a key moment in her campaign as Election Day draws closer and closer.
